I have always loved cooking, trying new recipes and living a healthy lifestyle, so after learning about the paleo diet from a close friend in early 2015, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I went strict paleo at first and completed a Whole30, but I’m not one who does well when restricted, so now I occasionally enjoy raw cheese, white rice, corn chips, sourdough bread & other non-paleo/primal foods, and I allow myself to eat whatever I want when I go out to eat. I feel the happiest, healthiest and most confident that I ever have in my life (and I’m no spring chicken), and I’m convinced that it’s from living a primal lifestyle.
I started Primal Recipe Tester because I have made some pretty amazing primal, paleo & real food meals, but I’ve also made some meals that were almost inedible. I hope I can save you time by sharing recipes that not only sound and look good but that actually taste great. Since I love real, nutrient-dense food, the recipes I choose to make are not always quick, easy meals, but I hope you can make the time to enjoy them! See my Tips for ways to save time at home and at the grocery store.
I also enjoy making personal care & beauty and household products, so you’ll see recipes that aren’t edible, although you could probably eat some of them. I will share the ones that work because I truly believe that what goes on the body is as important as what goes in it. Not to mention the ingredients are much safer for the environment.
I love not only what I’m doing for myself but also what I’m doing for my family. My husband and I have a seven year old daughter and a five year old son, and although they don’t always love being primal, I hope they’ll thank me someday. I live in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills in Northern California where I work and try to spend as much time as I can with my family being active outdoors, exploring and traveling.
